Choosing the right cargo solution
Start with how you actually load the vehicle. If you dig for gear at the bottom of a pile every trip, a drawer system like the Aeroklas Drawers turns the tub or cargo area into shelving you can reach from the tailgate. If the fridge is the heavy item, a Clearview Easy Slide brings it out to you instead of you climbing in after it. Check the slide's load rating against your fridge when it is full, a packed 60 litre fridge can weigh well over 50 kilograms.
Measure before you buy. Tub and cargo dimensions vary between utes and wagons, and between tub liners, canopies and bare trays, so confirm internal width, depth and height where the unit will sit. Drawers, boxes and a loaded fridge all count toward your payload, so factor in what the hardware itself weighs. Loose gear is the other hazard, anchor track from Prestige Off Road gives you rated tie-down points exactly where you need them.
Cargo solutions FAQs
Will a fridge slide fit my fridge?
Slides come in different lengths and load ratings, which is why Clearview offers the Easy Slide in sizes like the ES-100 Plus and ES-150 Plus. Match the slide tray to your fridge's base and its rating to the loaded weight. Not sure? Call us with the fridge model and we will confirm fit.
Do drawers have to be bolted in?
For safety, yes. A drawer system full of tools and recovery gear becomes a projectile in a hard stop if it is only sitting on the floor. Our Burwood workshop fits drawers, slides and anchor track to solid mounting points.
Can I still carry long loads with drawers installed?
Generally yes, most drawer systems keep a flat top you can load timber, swags or boxes onto. Just check the unit's top load rating and strap heavy items to rated tie-down points.
