Collection: Safety/Sand Flags

Sand flags make your 4x4 visible over the crest of a dune long before another vehicle sees your bonnet. They are standard practice for desert crossings and required in some desert parks and on many work sites.

We stock Minewhip sand flags, including a 3 metre, three piece flag and a replacement flag to suit. Order online with Australia-wide shipping, or have one fitted to your setup at our Burwood workshop.

Choosing a Sand Flag

Dune driving hides oncoming vehicles until the last second, and a sand flag solves that by putting a marker well above your roofline. Height and visibility are the whole point, so look for a flag tall enough to be seen over a crest with a bright, durable flag material.

Think about transport and mounting as well. Multi piece designs, like the 3 metre three piece Minewhip in this range, break down for storage between trips. Before you travel, check the current requirements of the desert park or work site you are heading to, since flag rules can differ from place to place.

Sand Flag FAQs

When do I actually need a sand flag?

Any time you are driving dunes where oncoming traffic cannot see you, and whenever the park or site you are entering requires one. Check the requirements for your destination before you leave.

How do sand flags mount to the vehicle?

Most flags mount to a bracket on the bullbar or front bar work so the pole sits vertically and clears the bonnet. If you are unsure what suits your bar, call us on 03 9808 8966.

Can I replace just the flag?

Yes. We stock a Minewhip replacement flag, so a faded or torn flag does not mean replacing the whole pole.
