DESIGNED & TESTED FOR TOWING!
MSA 4X4’s Patented Towing Mirrors feature a large single mirror that pivots on an extremely heavy-duty extension slide, that allows the mirror to be returned to its normal “non-towing” position, to avoid the extended mirrors permanently protruding way off the sides of the vehicle!
We think differently at MSA 4X4, and believe that ‘towing’ mirrors is a restrictive description for an ‘all round driving and towing mirror’ like ours. Traditional ‘Towing mirrors’ are great for towing, but not great for daily driving.
Our new MSA 4X4 Towing Mirrors were designed specifically so that, when not towing, they still look proportionate to the size and styling of the vehicle. The unique design features a large single mirror that pivots on an extremely heavy-duty extension slide, that allows the mirror to be returned to its normal “non-towing” position to avoid the extended mirrors permanently protruding way off the sides of the vehicle.
FEATURES:
- Can be adjusted to suit the viewing angle and preferences of any driver. Vertical and horizontal adjustment caters to drivers of differing height and seated positions
- Simple to fit. MSA 4X4’s Towing Mirrors mount onto your vehicle door in the same position as your existing mirrors
- Large, single mirror allows you to see your caravan/trailer sides without being confusing for everyday driving
- Slightly curved glass for even more vision, but not too curved that its distracting
- Unique pivot design allows the mirrors to maintain normal everyday position dimensions, whilst allowing for easy further extension
- Designed for towing caravans, camper trailers, trailers, boats and horse floats
- Available to suit a growing range of tray backs and towing vehicles
Know before you buy
Before you buy towing mirrors
The rule is simple: when you tow, you must still be able to see the road behind you and any vehicle overtaking. If your caravan or trailer blocks that view, you need mirrors that restore it.
- Replacement or clip-on
Replacement towing mirrors swap out your factory mirrors and extend when you tow. Clip-ons fit over the factory mirror. Clearview's are full replacements.
- Features you keep
Replacement mirrors keep the features your factory mirrors already had, such as indicators, heating or power fold, where the model allows. Check the listing for your model.
- Extend only when towing
Clearview recommends extending the mirrors only when towing and keeping them in when you're not.
- A camera isn't a mirror
A reversing camera helps when backing up but doesn't replace mirrors for seeing past the van on the road.
Common questions
Do I need towing mirrors in Victoria?
Victoria's rules require mirrors that let the driver clearly see the road behind and any following or overtaking vehicle, and a clear view behind and to each side (Road Safety (Vehicles) Regulations 2021, Sch 1 cl 34; Road Rules rule 297). There is no set trailer width that triggers it: if your van blocks that view, you need towing mirrors.
Are towing mirrors legal?
Yes. Mirror extensions for towing are on VicRoads' list of approved modifications (VSI 8).
Can a reversing camera replace towing mirrors?
No. A camera helps when reversing, but you still need mirrors that show the road behind and to the sides while you drive.
Can I leave them extended all the time?
Clearview recommends extending them only when towing.
Will I keep my indicators and heated glass?
Replacement mirrors keep the features your vehicle's factory mirrors already had, where the model allows. They don't add features the vehicle didn't have.
