Choosing the right camping and canvas gear
An awning is the biggest decision in this category. The Rhino-Rack Batwing wraps around the side and rear of your vehicle for 270 degrees of shade, while the Batwing Compact suits shorter wagons and utes where a full-size wing would overhang too far. Check which side you need before ordering. A right-hand awning opens over the passenger side in Australia, which keeps the driver's side clear for access. Your roof rack or platform also needs to accept the mounting brackets, so measure your crossbar spread first.
For the smaller gear, match the product to what you already run. The Clearview clip-on tray only fits the Clearview Easy Slide, and anchor track is only useful if your tray or drawers give you somewhere to bolt it. Bushranger floor mats are shaped for specific cabins, so check the fitment notes on the product page rather than assuming a universal fit.
Camping & Canvas FAQs
Will a Batwing awning fit my roof rack?
Batwing awnings mount to most flat platforms and crossbars using the supplied brackets, but the rack needs enough length and a suitable load rating. If you are not sure, send us your rack details or drop into the Burwood store and we will check it against the mounting requirements.
What is the difference between the Batwing and the Batwing Compact?
The standard Batwing gives you full 270 degree coverage around the side and rear of the vehicle. The Compact covers a smaller footprint, weighs less and suits shorter vehicles or racks with limited mounting length. If you camp with a group, the full-size wing is worth the extra size.
Can you fit my awning for me?
Yes. Our workshop at 88-94 Highbury Rd, Burwood fits awnings and accessories on site, and mounting them square and sealed the first time saves headaches later. Call 03 9808 8966 to book, or buy online and arrange fitting when the gear arrives.
