Clearview™ Compact Towing Mirrors

Small in Size, Big in Vision

The Clearview™ Compact Mirror is our newest towing mirror design.

Telescopic 2-stage extension provides 3 towing positions to choose from, allowing you to see down the side of your van when towing and won’t retract when driving at high speeds or when passing large trucks.

A large convex single mirror diminishes objects it reflects, allowing the driver to have a wide field similar to an OEM mirror, making it perfect for smaller vehicles with service bodies. Single mirror models are recommended for vehicles with large canopies or for towing anything under 15ft.

This is the mirror for you if you want a sleek, compact style while still ensuring wide visibility and safety.

Know before you buy

Before you buy towing mirrors

The rule is simple: when you tow, you must still be able to see the road behind you and any vehicle overtaking. If your caravan or trailer blocks that view, you need mirrors that restore it.

  1. Replacement or clip-on

Replacement towing mirrors swap out your factory mirrors and extend when you tow. Clip-ons fit over the factory mirror. Clearview's are full replacements.

  2. Features you keep

Replacement mirrors keep the features your factory mirrors already had, such as indicators, heating or power fold, where the model allows. Check the listing for your model.

  3. Extend only when towing

Clearview recommends extending the mirrors only when towing and keeping them in when you're not.

  4. A camera isn't a mirror

A reversing camera helps when backing up but doesn't replace mirrors for seeing past the van on the road.

Common questions

Do I need towing mirrors in Victoria?

Victoria's rules require mirrors that let the driver clearly see the road behind and any following or overtaking vehicle, and a clear view behind and to each side (Road Safety (Vehicles) Regulations 2021, Sch 1 cl 34; Road Rules rule 297). There is no set trailer width that triggers it: if your van blocks that view, you need towing mirrors.

Are towing mirrors legal?

Yes. Mirror extensions for towing are on VicRoads' list of approved modifications (VSI 8).

Can a reversing camera replace towing mirrors?

No. A camera helps when reversing, but you still need mirrors that show the road behind and to the sides while you drive.

Can I leave them extended all the time?

Clearview recommends extending them only when towing.

Will I keep my indicators and heated glass?

Replacement mirrors keep the features your vehicle's factory mirrors already had, where the model allows. They don't add features the vehicle didn't have.
