Since we invented the LED camp light bar back in 2008, Hardkorr camp light bars have been the only choice for campers who want quality built products that will last for many years. The design has changed and new features introduced over the years, but it’s still made with the same meticulous attention to detail that made us a household name.

More recently, many 4×4 enthusiasts have also discovered how useful these lights can be in canopies, tailgates and toolboxes. Hardkorr now supplies these lights to some of the biggest names in 4×4 customisation as well as thousands of DIYers every year.

This 48cm tri-colour LED camping light bar is our most popular and versatile size. It is commonly used for campsite lighting and illuminating the side doors of touring canopies.

This kit also includes accessories for pole mounting, powering, dimming and changing the colour of the light.

Key features

  • NEW Tri-colour dimmers: allows you to select between cool white, warm white and orange light at the touch of a button
  • Thicker bar profile for added strength and improved appearance
  • Multiple light bar mounting options:
    • Inbuilt magnets for attachment to most metal surfaces
    • Removable pole clips (sold separately) for easy attachment to non-magnetic tent poles
  • Removable diffusers for a wider angle, softer light beam
  • Removable end caps make flush mount applications look even better by hiding the join between the cable and the bar end
  • Reinforced grommets to prevent wire breakage at light bar ends
  • IP68 waterproof rating means the lights are completely watertight (in fact they will run underwater)
  • Waterproof locking DC connectors on all cables
  • Heavy-duty, double insulated cables to prevent voltage drop, which results in brighter bars
  • Minimal heat output, unlike gas lamps
  • Low power consumption – can be left on all night without affecting your battery

From orange to white at the touch of a button.

Often imitated, never duplicated.

The LED camp lights that Hardkorr invented are now seen across thousands of Australian campsites. In the years since we introduced them to the market, we’ve developed and released many innovations and improvements designed to make your camping experience comfortable and hassle-free, including orange/white technology, reinforced grommet ends, inbuilt magnets, removable pole clips and more.

We’ve now taken the next leap forward in design and technology, making lighting your campsite even easier by addressing some of the key gripes campers had with previous LED lighting technology. Our exclusive diffusers, now included with all light bars, create a much wider, more pleasant light beam – no more LEDs shining in your eyes if you’re on the wrong angle! The light bar pole clips make attaching your bars to non-magnetic tent poles much easier.

Additionally, flush mounting is now easier and looks better thanks to our wire-covering end caps and flush mount clips (flush mount clips sold separately).

And if all that wasn’t enough… our new dimmers give these kits the ability to now produce three shades of light: cool white, warm white and orange! The new warm white setting gives off a light that is nearly as bright as cool white, but with a pleasant soothing warmth to the colour.

How does orange light reduce bug presence?

Switching between cool white, warm white and orange

Some bugs, like mosquitos and moths, can’t help but move their body towards any light source they can see. This phenomenon is called positive phototaxis. Entomologists still don’t have a complete understanding of why this phenomenon exists, but it is clearly observable in nature.

Of course, bugs will only be attracted to light they can see, and there is a useful difference between the spectra of light which are visible to humans compared to bugs. Humans can generally see light which has a wavelength between 380nm (blue) and 740nm (red). Most bugs, conversely, can see light with a wavelength between 300nm and 600nm.

The wavelength of our orange LEDs is 610nm, putting them outside of the spectrum visible to must bugs, but still well inside the boundaries of human vision. As a result, most bugs will not congregate around our orange light because they simply don’t know it is there.

Know before you buy

Before you buy driving lights

Extra driving lights are legal in Victoria, within limits on how many you fit, where they go and how they're switched. Here's how to choose a set that's bright where you need it and road legal.

  1. Four extra, at most

You can fit up to four additional driving lights, and an LED light bar counts as one of them (VSI 8). Pairs must be at the same height and face forward.

  2. Wired to high beam

Driving lights must only come on with your high beam and go off with it. Dip within 200 m of oncoming traffic or a vehicle you're following.

  3. Where they go

A single light bar must sit on the centreline. Lights can go above the roof line if they're in the front half of the vehicle, and on a bull bar they must sit behind its front face.

  4. Spot, flood or combo

A spot beam reaches far down the road, a flood lights a wide area close in, and a combo does some of both. Lux at a distance tells you more about reach than total lumens (Narva).

Common questions

Are light bars legal in Victoria?

Yes. A light bar counts as one of up to four additional driving lights. It must be white, face forward, sit on the vehicle's centreline if it's a single bar, and only work with high beam (VSI 8; Road Safety (Vehicles) Regulations 2021).

How many driving lights can I fit?

Up to four additional lights, light bars included (VSI 8).

Do they have to be wired to high beam?

Yes. In Victoria, driving lights may only switch on when your high beam is on and must turn off with it (VSI 8).

Are amber or coloured covers legal?

Not on the road. Lamp covers must be clear, untinted, uncoloured and clean (VSI 8).

Do I have to cover my lights when I'm not using them?

There's no Victorian rule that says you must cover them. What matters is that they only work with high beam and that you dip them for other road users.

Lux or lumens: which matters?

Lumens measure the total light a lamp puts out. Lux measures how much light lands on the road at a distance, so the distance at which a beam still gives 1 lux tells you more about how far it reaches (Narva).
